AceShowbiz - At the Los Angeles premiere of Universal Pictures' "Wicked", Ariana Grande arrived in a dazzling Thom Browne gown that paid tribute to both her character, Glinda, and Dorothy from "The Wizard of Oz".
The strapless high-low ballgown featured a pale pink gingham pattern created with 50,000 pink crystals and silk thread embroidery, resembling Dorothy's iconic blue checked frock. Adorned with 600,000 three-cut beads and 50,000 pink crystals, the gown took 50 people over 6,000 hours to complete. Grande's shoes, modeled after Dorothy's original pair, were covered in 4,000 Swarovski crystals, nodding to the silver slippers in the original book.
Grande accessorized with a matching bow and gloves, evoking Dorothy's sweet demeanor. She also carried a wicker bag shaped like Thom Browne's iconic Hector dog and tied her hair in a bun with a matching bow.
While her "Wicked" co-stars Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba) and Jonathan Bailey (Fiyero) complemented her in green and silver ensembles, Grande's look channeled the magic of both Dorothy and Glinda. She described the intricate beading of the gingham as "Ozian," emphasizing the whimsical nature of the film.
In a romantic moment on the red carpet, Grande adjusted boyfriend Ethan Slater's (Boq) lapel, showing their affectionate bond. Slater looked dashing in a green velvet suit jacket and black trousers.
