AceShowbiz - Nicholas Hoult has shared his emotional experience losing the role of Batman in Matt Reeves' "The Batman" to Robert Pattinson. While driving a week before his scheduled audition, Hoult overheard on the radio that Pattinson had been chosen for the iconic role.
"It was an emotional blow," he admitted. "I was like, 'It's not confirmed yet!'"
Despite his initial disappointment, Hoult acknowledged Pattinson's excellence in the film. "That was the right decision," he said. "But the prospect was exciting. Matt Reeves is a fantastic director, and the script was great."
Hoult's connection with DC didn't end there. In James Gunn's upcoming "Superman" film, he has landed the role of Lex Luthor. Gunn recognized Hoult's talent and spared him from another emotional rollercoaster audition.
"When we spoke, they knew I had been through [the Batman] process," Hoult explained. "They wanted me to be a part of this world, which was very kind of them."
Hoult's casting as Lex Luthor highlights his versatility as an actor. While losing out on the role of Batman may have been an initial setback, it ultimately led him to a highly anticipated character in the DC Universe.
"The Batman", starring Robert Pattinson, is available on Max. James Gunn's "Superman," featuring Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and David Corenswet as Superman, is scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
