AceShowbiz - D.C. YoungFly was left frustrated as he couldn't use his vote for the 2024 U.S. presidential election. Making use of his Instagram account, the rapper shared in a video that he was unable to vote on Tuesday, November 5 due to an issue with his address.
"I'm gonna tell you my experience when I tried to vote," D.C. YoungFly began his video. "I tried to vote at 8 o'clock in the morning. The registration and election board denied my right to vote because I got P.O. box on my license. I've voted in that address for the last two turns."
The hip-hop star went on recounting, "I got denied. I really left. They pissing me off." In the caption, he wrote, "I was denied because of a dam P.O. Box addy so I didn't get a chance to vote !!! They cancel my registration in 2021 and I never received a notice about it until I tried to go vote today."
Internet users, however, didn't seem to show sympathy for him after catching wind of D.C. YoungFly's video. Most people blamed him for not trying to verify his registration beforehand despite given plenty of time to do so. "It was your responsibility to handle your business in advance. Do better next time. We still luv you tho!" someone scolded him in an Instagram comment.
"We been trying to tell ya'll all summer to verify ya’ll registration!!!!" another noted. Similarly, one other said, "Irresponsible. How long did you know that Election day was today? Didn't think to check?"
Another user commented, "No, you have plenty of time to check if he was properly registered to vote." One other penned, "All them text messages and….nevermind." One person, meanwhile, noted that they would not "have even put this up" if that happened to them because of the potential backlash.
