Despite her legendary career and countless hits, 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' singer Mariah Carey finds herself on the outside looking in when it comes to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

AceShowbiz - Mariah Carey may have been in full holiday mode, but there's one gift she was hoping for that she didn't receive this year: induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Despite being eligible for nearly a decade, this was her first nomination and it didn't end in a win.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Carey expressed her disappointment, saying, "My thoughts are: I didn't get in." She added with a touch of humor, "My lawyer got into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame before me."
Her lawyer, Allen Grubman was indeed inducted in 2022 via Ahmet Ertegun Award for representing music giants like Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, and Elton John.
However, the selection of Grubman - who was involved in founding the Hall back in 1983 - was not without its critics. Even Jann Wenner, co-founder of Rolling Stone, controversially ousted last year for discriminatory remarks, opposed Grubman's induction, labeling it a tribute to "money and bending to the ego of a music-business power broker."
"Everybody was calling me going, 'I think you're getting in!' and so I was excited about it. But then it didn't happen," Carey confessed.
The singer's feeling of being snubbed isn't limited to the Rock Hall. While Carey boasts five Grammy Awards, they all date back to 1991 and 2006, with none arriving since 2009. Despite multiple nominations, she has also never secured a win in major categories like Album, Song, and Record of the Year. Reflecting on this, Carey said, "What can I do? Be a sore loser and say, 'F the Grammys?' Whatever. If they give me more Grammys, I'll like them more."
As Mariah Carey embarks on her 2024 Christmas tour and plans her 2025 Las Vegas residency, her fans continue to hope that her undeniable contributions to music will eventually earn her a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Until then, Carey remains the undisputed Queen of Christmas, even if the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has yet to acknowledge her reign.
