While their divorce proceedings continue to unfold, Michael Madsen has dropped his restraining order request against DeAnna following an incident that led to his arrest.

AceShowbiz - In a rollercoaster of events, veteran actor Michael Madsen has withdrawn his request for a domestic violence restraining order against his estranged wife, DeAnna Madsen, according to exclusive reports from In Touch. Though the restraining order has been dismissed, the divorce proceedings continue to unfold with significant discord on both sides.
Court documents reveal that Michael, 67, opted to drop the restraining order shortly after filing for divorce on September 18. The actor, who cited "irreconcilable differences" as the grounds for the split, claims that his son's tragic suicide in January 2022 played a significant role in the couple's separation.
Michael accused DeAnna of contributing to their son's death and exacerbating his own personal issues because of her "neglect, drinking and alcoholism."
Michael explained his decision further, stating, "The 'irreconcilable differences' reason in the petition does not adequately describe the divorce filing. I have separated from [DeAnna] since my son's death by suicide on 1/25/22. I believe [DeAnna] drove him to this by her neglect, drinking and alcoholism."
The actor's heartbreak was palpable as he described finding no clear signs of his son's depression, telling Los Angeles Times, "I am in shock as my son, whom I just spoke with a few days ago, said he was happy - my last text from him was, 'I love you dad.' "
Michael expressed his ongoing struggle to understand the tragedy, saying, "I didn't see any signs of depression. It's so tragic and sad. I'm just trying to make sense of everything and understand what happened."
Despite withdrawing the restraining order, Michael did not dismiss his divorce petition. The couple, who have been married for 28 years, saw other legal troubles in recent months, including Michael's arrest in August for a misdemeanor domestic violence charge.
This charge followed accusations of pushing DeAnna and locking her out of their Los Angeles home. After police intervention, Michael was taken into custody and later released on a $20,000 bond. However, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office ultimately declined to bring charges against him.
Michael's representative noted, "We are thrilled that Michael Madsen is able to put this behind him and look forward to our continued collaboration with more great things coming from this veteran and respected actor."
As for DeAnna, she filed her response to Michael's petition earlier this October, concurring with the "irreconcilable differences" but leaving the date of separation "to be determined."
Unlike Michael's request to terminate any spousal support, DeAnna sought the court's intervention to be awarded spousal support. The judge has yet to rule on this contentious issue, leaving the final outcome of the divorce proceedings undetermined.
