AceShowbiz - It's an unfortunate reality that marriages can end, and dealing with divorce can be even more complex under the constant gaze of public scrutiny. Ali Wong and Kelly Clarkson, both celebrities who recently experienced divorces, provided insight into their personal experiences during a candid conversation on "The Kelly Clarkson Show".
Ali Wong, who filed for divorce from Justin Hakuta in December 2023, shared a heartfelt yet humorous account of breaking the news to her mother. Wong revealed the challenge of discussing the sensitive topic, recounting her mother's emotional reaction, "I told her before we did it, I was like, 'I think we're gonna get divorced,' and then she was really quiet. Oh, no no! That's not true, she was not quiet. She went back and forth with me about it for a while and then I thought we had resolved it, and then four hours later she was like, 'Come here.' And she pulled me to the kitchen and she took my arm, and she was like, 'Can you just wait until I die?'"
In contrast, Kelly Clarkson described her mother's support during her divorce from Brandon Blackstock, noting the difficulties surrounding custody, financial support, and property division. Clarkson shared, "She could see I was drowning. So yeah, she would have bought the plane tickets."
On a lighter note, Ali Wong humorously discussed her pragmatic approach to balancing career and family life, stating, "I'll tell you how I balance family and career: I have a nanny. That's the answer. Yes, it's very unlikable and unpopular to broadcast that because not everybody can afford a nanny - it's super expensive."
