AceShowbiz - Married couple of nearly three decades, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, recently talked about the concept of "gray divorce" during an episode of their show "Live With Kelly and Mark." Kelly explained that she had read an article about the increasing rate of divorce among older couples, which has risen from 8.7% in 1990 to 36% in 2019.
Kelly cited empty nest syndrome, lack of common interests, infidelity, and health problems as potential factors contributing to gray divorce. However, Mark jokingly reassured Kelly that she would take care of him even when he needed diaper changes.
Despite the serious subject matter, Kelly expressed fascination with the article's narrator's soothing voice, which initially made the topic sound appealing. However, she realized that the narrator's tone masked the gravity of the issue.
"Oh, I want one," she admitted to considering the "gray divorce." "It sounds like something amazing," she explained, "and then you realize, oh, this is very dark subject matter. But the voice of the narrator is so soothing."
However, Kelly and Mark emphasized that they have no plans for divorce and still share common interests. Mark recently expressed his love for Kelly on social media for her birthday, promising to reduce his snoring in the coming year.
