AceShowbiz - In an interview with Rainn Wilson on his podcast "Soul Bloom", Justin Baldoni shared his experiences trying to define himself and navigate dating in his 20s. Baldoni admitted to struggling with societal expectations of masculinity, leading him to suppress his true self.
"In my twenties, I would try on, as I called it, the different masks of masculinity... like, let me just pretend to not give a s**t about anything," Baldoni explained. He described how he would ignore his feelings to appear more masculine, hindering his ability to connect with others.
Baldoni realized that suppressing his emotions was not beneficial. "So, I started questioning things and when I met my wife it was like a lightbulb went off," he said. "What if I am just myself? What if I am just myself and I share with her all the parts of me?"
Despite his success as an actor, producer, and author, Baldoni still experiences imposter syndrome. He attributed this to a patriarchal, capitalistic society that values productivity over intrinsic worth. "That's how imposter syndrome in many ways, comes from comparison," Baldoni explained.
Baldoni emphasized the importance of questioning what is truly enough in life. "When you start to look at that, when every one of us human beings starts to look at what is enough, for all of us, not just entrepreneurs, but what do we actually need? And when you ask yourself that question, you're able to start to make decisions from a place of true strength and clarity," he stated.
