AceShowbiz - LeBron James and his wife Savannah James candidly discussed the impact of Bronny's health scare on Netflix's "Starting 5" docuseries. "It was about supporting each other and being grateful for the outcome," Savannah said.
LeBron expressed his gratitude to God and the USC medical staff, who performed CPR on Bronny when he collapsed. "Shout out to the man above," the father of three said while footage of his mom Gloria meeting the medical responder was shown. "And to the whole coaching staff, training staff, members of that program."
"They're the reason Bronny is aliveand smiling and thriving and doing what any 19-year-old should be doing, and that's living out their dream," the NBA star continued.
Bronny was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect in August and underwent successful surgery. His biggest concern after the arrest was returning to the court, according to LeBron.
"It's crazy with kids, when they love something and they want something, that's all that matters to them," LeBron explained on the show. "As a parent, you're like, 'You had a cardiac arrest, like...,' and in his mind he's like, 'Can I or can I not play ball again and if the answer is yes, when can I play ball again?' "
Despite the scare, Bronny went on to play at USC and was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2024 NBA Draft. He and LeBron made history on October 6th as the first father-son duo to play in the league.
"For a father, it means everything to share the court with your son," LeBron said. "To have that influence and work with your son is one of the greatest things a father can hope for."
