AceShowbiz - Kesha (Ke$ha) is set to make her triumphant return, and she's not mincing words. In a recent Elle profile, the "Joyride" pop star shared her bold plans to "shine light" throughout the music industry.
"The music industry should be fucking terrified of me," Kesha declared, revealing her 10-year plan to dismantle the old guard. "I'm about to shift this shit. I want to dismantle it piece by piece and shine light into every corner."
Kesha's motive is clear: to prevent the exploitation and abuse she experienced from happening to anyone else. "I don't believe you can create if you're not feeling safe," she said. "The old way of doing everything with secrecy - there's no future there. So, like, those of you with deep, dark secrets, you better fucking run."
Last month, Kesha launched Kesha Records in partnership with Warner Music's ADA. Under this label, she plans to release new music, including a 2025 album produced by A.G. Cook and Zhone, and sign emerging pop stars. "My name has become synonymous with transparency, integrity, and safety," she stated. "I want to ensure these values are upheld for myself and any future artists."
Kesha's comeback album, a stark contrast from her emotionally charged "Gag Order", will be a reflection of her newfound freedom. "This record is my little wild child," she said. "I'm really trying to make way for the bad bitch. I need to reclaim my joy. Because I fought so fucking hard for it."
The singer has also been using her platform to empower and support young women in music. "I do have a sense of feeling protective of young women in music," she said. "I really hope my joy can stand for others to know that it's available to them and to not give up."
With her own label, Kesha has gained complete control over her music and creative process. "I'm 100 percent in control of everything now," she said, "from ideating the song to designing what I'm wearing for the song."
Kesha's resilience and unwavering spirit have inspired a generation of female artists to embrace their authenticity. Chappell Roan and Renee Rapp are among those who have received her mentorship and support. "Kesha came to talk to me after [my Lollapalooza set], and it felt like a big sister was helping me through it," Roan said. "Me and Renee were crying because we felt like we were seen in a way we never had been before."
As Kesha's comeback unfolds, the music industry is on notice. She is determined to shake up the status quo, promote safety and transparency, and uplift the voices of those who have been marginalized. Her legacy will be one of empowerment, healing, and revolution.
