AceShowbiz - DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., has announced the end of his relationship with Halle Bailey, widely known for her role in "The Little Mermaid." The couple, who began dating in early 2022, recently welcomed their son, Halo, earlier this year. However, on October 3, DDG took to social media to reveal their separation, emphasizing a respectful and loving parting.
"After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways. This decision was not easy, but we believe it's the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we've spent together and the love we've shared," the rapper shared on his Instagram story.
He reiterated, "We are still best friends and adore each other. As we focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we've built and the beautiful moments we've shared."
The split follows a series of public controversies and rumors about their relationship. In 2023, DDG's song "Famous" stirred online discussions with lyrics suggesting his insecurities about Bailey's career and a specific scene involving co-star Jonah Hauer-King. "Filmin' a movie, now you kissing dudes. You know I love you a lot," DDG rapped, reflecting his discomfort with the promotional activities for the Disney film.
There were also allegations of infidelity on both sides. Rumors suggested that DDG was unfaithful to Bailey after his ex, Rubi Rose, tweeted suggestively about the situation. DDG responded to these allegations by tweeting, "Nobody cheated on nobody," attempting to put an end to the speculation. Nonetheless, the rumors strained their relationship.
Despite the breakup, DDG has made it clear that they hold no animosity towards each other. They both emphasize mutual respect and friendship, requesting that their supporters understand and respect this transition period. DDG concluded his statement with gratitude, "Thank you for your love and encouragement."
While Bailey has yet to publicly comment on the separation, but she recently expressed her frustrations amid scrutiny over her career and personal life. "So sick of people thinking it's OK to speak on my career and my child," she wrote. "Leave us alone."
Bailey and DDG were last seen together in September. Fans are encouraged to support both DDG and Halle as they navigate this new chapter in their lives and continue to co-parent their son.
This split marks the end of a significant and publicized relationship, but both DDG and Bailey seem committed to maintaining their bond and focusing on their future endeavors. We wish them both the best on their individual journeys forward.
