AceShowbiz - Earlier this week, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs was placed on suicide watch at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, following his arrest on multiple severe charges. According to his lawyer Marc Agnifilo this is a standard precaution for new high-profile inmates and not an indication that Diddy is suicidal. Indeed, Agnifilo reassures that Diddy, aged 54, is "strong, healthy, confident and focused on his defense."
Diddy has pled not guilty to the charges which include racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution. The arrest, which took place on September 16, stems from a year-long investigation combined with recent lawsuits. Notably, his ex-girlfriend Cassie accused him of abuse in a bombshell lawsuit filed in November 2023.
The unsealed indictment, which came a day after the arrest, alleges a detailed list of accusations against Combs. Among them are claims of coercion, threats and physical violence used to control his victims. His lawyer emphasized that Diddy will continue to fight these charges with "all of his energy and all of his might" and believes his client will be exonerated.
Adding to the shocking nature of the allegations, the indictment outlined Diddy's involvement in hosting illicit parties, termed "Freak Offs," where victims were allegedly lured under false pretenses and coerced into compromising situations. Further investigations revealed the seizure of narcotics, illegal firearms and alarming quantities of lubricants and oils from Diddy's properties.
The court has twice denied Diddy's request for bail, with U.S. District Judge Andrew Carter pronouncing him "a danger" and affirming the bail package insufficient to mitigate the risk of flight. As Diddy remains in federal custody, his lawyer has asked for a transfer to the Essex County Correctional Facility, citing concerns over MDC's poor conditions including a high suicide and death rate.
"He's going to clear his name and we're going to stand by his side as he does," Agnifilo told reporters, reflecting the defense's strong belief in Diddy's innocence. Despite the mounting allegations and public scrutiny, Combs and his legal team remain adamant about contesting each charge. They are preparing for a challenging legal battle as the trial date still remains unset.
