AceShowbiz - Sean "P. Diddy" Combs has been arrested in New York after months-long investigation into allegations of sex trafficking, sexual abuse and harassment against him. The rapper was taken into federal custody on Monday night, September 16 in Manhattan after a grand jury indictment.
Sources tell TMZ that Homeland Security swooped into a midtown hotel on late Monday where Diddy was staying and they arrested him. Unconfirmed reports claimed the feds were searching his hotel room. He was subsequently taken to the FBI Field Office in Manhattan.
Law enforcement sources tell the site that the arrest was initially scheduled for Tuesday, but something happened that caused the feds to move in a day earlier.
A source, meanwhile, tells Page Six that the hip-hop mogul was aware of the impending charges. "The hip hop mogul has fully cooperated and voluntarily came to New York in anticipation of the charges," the source reveals. However, the charges are not immediately known.
Following Diddy's arrest, his attorney Marc Agnifilo said in a statement, "We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney's Office."
"Sean 'Diddy' Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the black community," the statement read. "He is an imperfect person but he is not a criminal."
The statement added, "To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court."
Diddy has been facing sexual misconduct allegations since her ex Cassie sued him for rape and physical abuse in November 2023. He quickly settled the lawsuit with his ex-girlfriend, but denied all allegations against him. In May, a video of him abusing the singer at a hotel in March 2016 was released.
He later issued an apology, saying in a since-deleted Instagram video, "My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I'm disgusted." He added, "I went and I sought out professional help, started going to therapy and rehab, had to ask god for his mercy and grace."
