AceShowbiz - Dua Lipa has responded to criticism that her music lacks personal depth, explaining that she intentionally holds back on sharing her private experiences in her lyrics. In a recent interview with Anderson Cooper on "60 Minutes", Lipa addressed the issue, saying, "It's something that I just naturally hold back."
She continued by stating that she prefers to focus on creating music that people genuinely enjoy, rather than using her personal life as a means of attracting attention or gaining clickbait. "For me, it was always important to make music that people really loved, not because I was putting someone out on blast, not because I'm doing it for the clickbait at maybe someone else's expense," she explained.
She also weighed in on artists who always kiss and tell in their songs, "Some people are just so ruthless with their own private life that they decide to put it all out in a song because they know that it's gonna attract people's attention."
Despite some critics finding Lipa's music to be lacking in personal connection, her stance remains firm: she believes that keeping her private life separate from her music allows her to create songs that resonate with a wider audience.
In a separate interview with Rolling Stone, Lipa elaborated on her creative process, expressing a desire for experimentation and sonic diversity. She described her latest album, "Radical Optimism", as "fun" and "psychedelic," drawing inspiration from Brit-pop influences.
Despite her busy touring schedule, Lipa acknowledges the importance of taking breaks and spending time with loved ones. She recently announced a 2025 arena tour, but she emphasizes her intention to take longer intervals between future projects. "I think there's going to come a point where maybe I want to take just a little bit longer [in between]," she said.
