AceShowbiz - Katie Holmes appeared to have adapted to life as an empty nester. Before reuniting with her daughter Suri Cruise, the actress portraying Joey Potter on "Dawson's Creek" was spotted giggling in public during a phone call.
On Monday afternoon, September 9, the 45-year-old actress stepped out in New York City. In a series of pictures that made their rounds online, it could be seen that she was having fun during a solo stroll around the city.
Katie was photographed walking alone on the side of the street and talking to someone over the phone. At one point, she was seen bursting into laughter while placing her smartphone on one of her ears. She looked very happy as she was smiling from ear-to-ear.
For the relaxing stroll on the sunny day, Katie opted to wear a casual outfit that made her body warm. She donned a black tee under an oversized bright red jacket that she wore unbuttoned. She also rocked a pair of long black pants that featured a wide-leg design.
To complete the look, Katie put on a pair of black leather flat shoes and brown-framed sunglasses. She was carrying a big white tote bag in which she kept her belongings. In addition, her long brown hair was styled in a sleek updo.
The new sighting came a few weeks before Katie is set to reunite with her daughter Suri, who is currently studying at Carnegie Mellon University. In August, a source spilled to Daily Mail that Katie will visit Suri, whom the actress shares with actor Tom Cruise, at the campus for a family weekend.
According to the informant, "The Secret: Dare to Dream" actress "is expected to travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to see her daughter" on September 27-28. The insider told the media outlet, "Katie looks forward to visiting her child at school, she is happy for her and wants to be a part of it."
