Her wavy brunette hair was tied up in a bun, and a pair of sunglasses shielded her eyes.

The revival of Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, which debuted in 1938, returned to Broadway in October after weeks of previews. The meta play explores New Hampshire village life at the dawn of the 20th century, featuring a diverse cast that includes Jim Parsons, Zoey Deutch, Ephraim Sykes, Julie Halston, Richard Thomas and Michelle Wilson.

Holmes stars as Mrs. Webb, the mother of Emily, played by Deutch. In an interview with Playbill, she praised director Kenny Leon's approach to the play, emphasizing its universality and themes of village life. Holmes and her cast mates recently celebrated her 46th birthday backstage on December 19.

Her 18-year-old daughter, Suri Cruise, who shares a close bond with her mother, was not present at Holmes' return to the theater. Suri, who is now a freshman at Carnegie Mellon University, previously serenaded her mother with a happy birthday song during an Instagram Story post shared by Holmes. The teen also surprised her mother backstage with a bouquet of purple roses.

"I am so grateful for all of my blessings, especially my daughter!" Holmes exclaimed on Instagram. While Holmes maintains a private social media presence regarding Suri, she has previously expressed her pride and admiration for her daughter's independence and strength.
