AceShowbiz - Elizabeth Olsen, known for her iconic role as Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has expressed her willingness to continue reprising the character if the opportunity arises. In a recent interview, she shared her thoughts on playing the role and her desire for growth as an actress.
"It's a character that I love going back to when there's a way to use her well," Olsen said. "I think I have been lucky that when I started I was used well."
Olsen first portrayed Wanda Maximoff in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" (2014) and continued to evolve the character in subsequent Marvel films, including "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015), "Captain America: Civil War" (2016), "Avengers: Infinity War" (2018), and "Avengers: Endgame" (2019). In 2021, she starred in the Disney+ spinoff series "WandaVision," which explored her character's grief and explored the themes of mental health.
Her journey culminated with "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" (2022), where Wanda transformed into the main villain. However, after almost a decade of playing the character, Olsen expressed a desire to explore new roles and characters.
"I'm trying to figure out... Because, specifically in the last four years, my output has been Marvel," Olsen said. "I don't want... it's not that I don't want to be associated as just this character. But I really feel like I need to be building other parts back up for balance."
Olsen emphasized the importance of longevity in an actor's career, explaining that "there's no longevity in one character." She expressed her hope to diversify her filmography with new and challenging roles, while also acknowledging her gratitude for the opportunities that playing Wanda Maximoff has brought her.
