AceShowbiz - Over the Labor Day weekend, Ben Platt and Noah Galvin, both former stars of the Tony-winning Broadway musical "Dear Evan Hansen", exchanged vows in a lavish ceremony in Brooklyn.
Their multi-day celebration began with a Shabbat welcome dinner on Friday night, August 30, followed by a game night on Saturday. The grand finale, a Sunday ceremony, took place at Pioneer Works in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Officiated by Platt's longtime rabbi David Wolpe, the ceremony was witnessed by a star-studded guest list, including Beanie Feldstein, Kaitlyn Dever and Zoey Deutch.
Platt and Galvin emphasized the importance of dancing throughout the festivities. "We couldn't have asked for anything more," Galvin said. "We are still floating. And mostly we're happy we get to keep hanging out forever."
The highlight of the evening was a surprise concert by the band Muna. Platt exclaimed, "At this point, our souls left our bodies and we have yet to return." Their mothers performed a classic Jewish wedding song as a duet to conclude the ceremony, followed by the traditional glass-breaking ritual.
Platt and Galvin first crossed paths in 2014 on a web series and later reconnected when Galvin replaced Platt as the lead in "Dear Evan Hansen" in 2017. Their friendship blossomed into a romantic relationship during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Platt proposed to Galvin in November 2020 with a romantic setting full of flowers and lights. Galvin returned the gesture with a sapphire ring months later.
The couple shared their engagement photos on Instagram, Platt writing, "he agreed to hang out forever," while Galvin exclaimed, "I said yeehaw and then cried for like 7 hours."
Platt has praised Galvin's calming influence, saying he brings a grounding presence to his life. He credits the pandemic for bringing them "from zero to 60" and ultimately leading them to a deeper connection.
