AceShowbiz - Luca Guadagnino, the director of films such as "Call Me By Your Name" and "Challengers", is reportedly in talks to join the DC Universe (DCU) family. According to sources, Guadagnino has had conversations with DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran about directing a project within the franchise.
While Guadagnino's potential project remains undisclosed, it is worth noting that he is high on Gunn and Safran's list of prospective directors. The current DCU slate includes confirmed films like "Superman", "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow", "Swamp Thing" and "The Brave and the Bold" as well as television shows such as "Waller", "Booster Gold" and "Lanterns". However, it is unclear whether Guadagnino's project would be entirely new or among those previously announced.
Guadagnino's directorial style and sensibilities might align well with certain projects within the DCU, such as "The Authority", which features a prominent gay romance. Other potential titles without an attached director include "Teen Titans".
Gunn, explaining the DCU's direction, has stated that it will have a central narrative similar to Marvel but with a more cohesive plan and a greater level of moral complexity inspired by series like "Star Wars" and "Game of Thrones".
Guadagnino has recently completed "After the Hunt" and is set to direct "Separate Rooms" in the near future. His involvement in the DCU would mark a significant addition to the franchise's roster of talented filmmakers, including Gunn, Craig Gillespie, James Mangold, and others.
