AceShowbiz - Antonio Banderas is overjoyed about his daughter Stella Banderas' recent engagement to Alex Gruszynski. At the amfAR Gala in Venice, the actor shared his happiness with PEOPLE, saying, "I feel great! She's happy, I'm happy."
Banderas also spoke about Gruszynski, an entrepreneur he has known since he was a child. "He's awesome," Banderas said.
The engagement was announced by Stella's mother, Melanie Griffith, on Instagram. In a post featuring photos of the couple's journey from childhood friends to soon-to-be spouses, Griffith wrote, "He asked... On bended knee... she said yes Stella and Alex are engaged to be married."
Stella, 27, has pursued a career in the family business, including acting, modeling, and entrepreneurship. She launched her beauty and fragrance brand, Lightbound, in 2021.
Antonio spoke to PEOPLE in 2010 about the importance of spending quality time with Stella, his only child. He said, "I have one date night with my daughter every week. I take her for dinner by herself and we can talk, spend some time together. We just try to be dynamic in our relationship to the family, and it's fun too."
The amfAR Gala recognized Antonio with the Global Impact Award, honoring his dedication to philanthropy and the fight against HIV/AIDS.
