AceShowbiz - Katie Holmes, along with the cast and fans of "Dawson's Creek", is grieving the loss of their former co-star Obi Ndefo, who passed away at the age of 51. Obi's sister Nkem Ndefo announced his death on Facebook on Saturday, August 31, sharing a photo of the siblings and writing, "Heartbroken at the loss of my younger brother and knowing he's finally at peace."
Katie, who played Joey Potter on the show, reshared a tribute post on her Instagram Stories on September 1. She wrote underneath a screenshot of a reel posted by Mary-Margaret Humes, who played Gail Leery, "He was wonderful to work with and such a kind man. I send prayers and grace to his family. Rest in Peace."
Mary-Margaret also paid tribute to Obi in her Instagram post, writing, "[Obi] was and always will be a bright shining light. What an example of pure unfiltered love and tenacity you set as you faced life's challenges of recent."
Obi played Bodie Wells, Bessie Potter's boyfriend, on "Dawson's Creek" from 1998 to 2002. He also had roles on other TV shows such as "NCIS: Los Angeles", "The West Wing" and "NYPD Blue".
In 2019, Obi suffered a life-changing accident when he was hit by an SUV and became a double amputee. Speaking about the experience in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, he said, "This is just so horrendous what happened to me, why would I compound this by feeling bad about it?"
Obi's passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends and fans. His legacy as a talented actor and an inspiration to others will continue to live on.
