Johnson responded to a comment on Instagram expressing disappointment with Blake's portrayal, stating, "I'm sure you have a huge heart and want the best. I can promise you the truth has not come out yet." He emphasized that Blake worked diligently on the film and that the message is conveyed through the book and the movie, not in interviews.

Johnson admitted that mistakes were made during the production but asserted that Blake is not solely responsible for the film's promotion. He also addressed reports of tension between Blake and her co-star and director Justin Baldoni.

"All is not what it seems," said a set source. "There is much more to this story. The principal cast and [author] Colleen Hoover will have nothing to do with [Baldoni]."

Despite the controversy, Blake expressed her gratitude to fans and shared resources to help domestic violence survivors. Her brother-in-law described her as "kind, loving, committed, hard working, and inspiring."

Robyn Lively, Blake's sister and Bart's wife, also defended Blake on social media, saying, "Blake is a lovely human being." She acknowledged the negative voices but stressed that the positive ones outweigh them.
