AceShowbiz - Helena Bonham Carter and her boyfriend Rye Dag Holmboe may have taken their relationship to another level. "The Crown" star sparked engagement rumors when she was spotted with a new diamond ring during an outing in London on Tuesday, August 28.

In some photos circulating online, the 58-year-old actress could be seen cutting a quirky fashion style. She turned heads in a colorful outfit that consisted of a red and nude floral maxi skirt and a frilly mustard top with mesh details. She completed her look with black trainers as well as a brown handbag.

However, it was her ring that caught people's attention. The "Harry Potter" star wore the diamond sparkler on her ring finger, prompting speculation that she's been engaged to her historian beau.

Helena and Rye, who first met at a wedding in 2018, have been dating for 6 years. Their romance began following her split from film director Tim Burton in 2014.

Of her meeting with her academic boyfriend, Helena told The Guardian, "A totally random thing, which both of us nearly didn't go to, so it was one of those moments that was so chance and ended up determining so much. A really happy accident, and it's an amazing thing."

Helena also addressed their 21-year age gap. "Everybody ages at a different rate," she said. "My boyfriend is unbelievably mature. He's an old soul in a young body, what more could I want? People are slightly frightened of older women, but he isn't. Women can be very powerful when they're older."

While it's unclear if there's truth in the engagement speculations, Helena previously shared that she's in no rush to walk down the aisle. Speaking to Daily Mail in March 2022, she said, "I wasn't married the first time."
