During the episode, Tarantino discussed the challenges and complexities involved in delivering a satisfying conclusion to a trilogy.

Tarantino expressed particular admiration for the "Toy Story" trilogy, declaring that it stands as a cinematic achievement other franchises aspire to but rarely match. He praised the seamless evolution and deepening of the story across the three films, culminating in the "magnificent" third installment.

"If you've seen the other two, it's just devastating," Tarantino said of "Toy Story 3". "But the thing is, then three years later or something they did a fourth, and I have no desire to see it."

Tarantino's stance stems from his belief that the third film perfectly concluded the story, rendering any further sequels unnecessary. He cites the "Mad Max" franchise as an example of a series that failed to maintain its quality across multiple entries.

Despite Tarantino's reservations, a fifth installment of Toy Story is currently in development, with Disney CEO Bob Iger confirming Andrew Stanton's return as director at the D23 Expo. The film is scheduled for release on June 19, 2026.
