AceShowbiz - "Stranger Things" sensation Millie Bobby Brown is expanding her creative repertoire by adapting her debut novel "Nineteen Things" into a Netflix feature film. The project, which has Brown's production company PCMA Productions at the helm, will feature the actress in a potential starring role.
Based on the experiences of Brown's grandmother during World War II, "Nineteen Things" follows the journey of 18-year-old Nellie Morris in Bethnal Green, East London. Amidst the challenges of wartime life, Nellie navigates bombing raids, rationing and the heartache of separation while finding love with an American airman named Ray. The novel's pivotal event is the Bethnal Green Tube disaster, a tragic incident in which 173 civilians perished seeking shelter during an air attack.
The screenplay adaptation is in the capable hands of Anthony McCarten, the Oscar-nominated writer behind "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Darkest Hour". The production team includes Jonathan Eirich as producer for Rideback and Nick Reynolds as executive producer. Rideback, founded by renowned producer Dan Lin (now Netflix's film chief), has an impressive track record with projects like "It", "The LEGO Movie" and "Aladdin".
Brown has a longstanding connection with Netflix, which soared her to fame with her role as Eleven on "Stranger Things". The series has garnered her two Emmy nominations and is set to end with its fifth and final season in 2025. Additionally, Brown has appeared in Netflix's "Enola Holmes" franchise and the fantasy adventure "Damsel", showcasing her versatility as an actress.
The "Nineteen Things" feature film promises an emotional and immersive experience, captivating audiences with its poignant exploration of resilience, love and human spirit amidst the horrors of war.
