Kelly Rowland, Nicole Scherzinger, Liam Payne and AJ McLean are set to judge on 'Building the Band', where individual singers form bands based on musical compatibility and connection.

AceShowbiz - Netflix is bringing together four of the music industry's most experienced boy band and girl group alumni to mentor and judge the next generation of pop stars in its upcoming competition series, "Building the Band".

Nicole Scherzinger (The Pussycat Dolls), Liam Payne (One Direction), Kelly Rowland (Destiny's Child) and AJ McLean (Backstreet Boys) will form the judging panel, while McLean will also host the series.

In a "Love Is Blind"-inspired twist, individual singers will form their own bands without ever seeing each other. Isolated in individual booths, they must rely solely on musical compatibility, connection and chemistry to select their bandmates.

"With looks out of the equation, can they create a deeper connection with their bandmates?" said executive producer Cat Lawson. "With limited bands, there are difficult decisions and heart-stopping moments along the way, but ultimately the outcome is truly amazing, with bands forming who in my opinion are worthy of the very biggest stage!"

Scherzinger has previous experience as a judge on "The X Factor", "The Masked Singer" and "The Sing-Off", while Payne competed on "The X Factor" before joining One Direction.

The series is set to feature guest judges and will begin filming before the end of summer. Production companies Remarkable Entertainment and Banijay U.K. are behind the project, with Cat Lawson, Alison Holloway, Katrina Morrison, Clara Elliot and Simon Crossley serving as executive producers.
