AceShowbiz - Ilana Glazer, who identifies with she/they pronouns, recently spoke candidly about their gender and how their pregnancy journey played a transformative role. In an interview with The Independent, Glazer explained that while being pregnant on paper felt traditionally feminine, it illuminated both their masculine and feminine qualities. "For so long, my masculinity felt like something I had to hide or make a joke of, and my femininity was something that felt like drag," they said.
Pregnancy, however, became a catalyst for self-discovery. "There was always this element of comedy to [my gender] that was limiting my genuine personal experience," Glazer stated. The experience of carrying a child allowed them to embrace both sides of their identity.
Asked if identifying as non-binary had changed their daily life, Glazer emphasized that it is part of an ongoing journey of self-actualization. "I'm moving through the world in a way that's truer," they said.
Glazer had previously mentioned their non-binary identity in a 2020 interview, crediting the "Broad City" sitcom for helping them explore their queerness. They expressed that through the show, they learned about their own identity and the importance of self-acceptance.
In 2021, Glazer welcomed a daughter with their husband, David Rooklin. They have kept their child's name private. Glazer and Rooklin tied the knot in 2017.
