AceShowbiz - Matt Damon, known for his role in "Good Will Hunting", expressed his sympathy for his friend Ben Affleck, acknowledging the intense media attention Affleck has faced throughout his career, particularly amidst his marital issues with Jennifer Lopez.
Damon made these comments during an interview on the "Radio Times Podcast" while promoting his new film with Affleck's brother, Casey Affleck. He stated, "I can't imagine living under that kind of scrutiny. And it's been like that for 25 years, and we've had parallel careers in a lot of ways, and so I'm fortunate to have been kind of excused from that part of [it]."
Damon attributed his ability to avoid excessive media focus to his marriage and avoidance of scandalous behavior. He explained, "That magazine culture that was so huge you know, 25 years ago kind of ignored me... Right, like a guy who's married, it's so boring. What would sell those things were scandal and sex and all that stuff... and as long as you didn't do any of that stuff, it wasn't really worth their time to wait to take your picture and so I ended up kind of getting left alone."
Damon also revealed that he initially dealt with fame by immersing himself in work and finding someone outside the entertainment industry to support him. He credits his wife, Luciana Barroso, with helping him navigate the initial disorientation of fame.
Despite Damon's gratitude for his less scrutinized career path, Affleck's marital drama has been widely reported in recent months. The couple spent the summer apart, raising speculation about the status of their relationship. Lopez was recently spotted at Affleck's rental home in Los Angeles.
