AceShowbiz - "Squid Game" season 2 is set to premiere on December 26 on Netflix worldwide, and a new teaser trailer has arrived to give fans a glimpse of the new players joining the deadly game.
Original creator Hwang Dong-Hyuk returns as director and executive producer for season 2, with Lee Jung-Jae reprising his role as Seong Gi-Hun, the sole survivor from the first season. The teaser shows Gi-Hun back in the game, three years after his victory. Haunted by guilt and seeking revenge, he enters a new life-or-death competition with a diverse group of new participants.
The new teaser introduces several faceless players in their signature green tracksuits, their numbers increasing until reaching Gi-Hun's iconic #456. While we don't get a clear look at the new cast members, it's evident they're being subjected to the same deadly challenges that Gi-Hun endured in season 1.
Confirmed returning stars from the first season include Lee Byung-Hun as Front Man, Wi Ha-Jun as Hwang Jun-Ho, and Gong Yoo as the enigmatic recruiter. Joining the cast for season 2 are Yim Si-Wan, Kang Ha-Neul, Park Sung-Hoon, Yang Dong-Geun, Park Gyu-young, Jo Yu-Ri, Kang Ae-Sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-Uk, Choi Seung-Hyun, Roh Jae-Won and Won Ji-An in various undisclosed roles.
"Squid Game" became Netflix's most popular series of all time with over 1.65 billion views within its first 28 days of airing. It also made history by winning the Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, with Hwang Dong-Hyuk becoming the first Asian person to receive the honor.
The third and final season of "Squid Game" is expected to follow in 2025.
