AceShowbiz - T.I. and his wife Tiny Harris (Tameka Cottle) can now breathe a sigh of relief. The couple, who was sued by an anonymous woman over an alleged 2005 incident, had the case tossed out by a judge.
For the records, the pair filed a motion to dismiss the case more than one month prior. "All the claims asserted in the Complaint are time-barred because the statute of limitations for such claims has long expired over sixteen years ago," their attorneys argued.
"Further, notwithstanding the fact that Defendants Clifford Harris ('Mr. Harris') and Tameka Harris ('Mrs. Harris'') (collectively 'Defendants' or 'Harrises'), deny that any of the alleged conduct even occurred," they continued, "the Complaint fails to allege facts to sufficiently establish any of the claims alleged in the Complaint."
"Accordingly, Defendants seek to dismiss all the claims in the Complaint … for failure to state a claim upon which any relief can be granted," the documents further read. "Because there is no possible remedy for these deficiencies … Defendants seek dismissal of this entire action."
On Thursday, August 8, U.S. District Court Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett granted T.I. and Tiny's motion to dismiss the lawsuit. However, the judge allowed for the alleged victim, referred to as Jane Doe, to file an amended complaint as her team requested last month.
Jane Doe filed her complaint against T.I. and Tiny in Los Angeles on January 2, 2024. She claimed she "did not consent to any of the sexual assault or misconduct" that occurred nearly two decades ago.
The woman said he was in her early 20s and serving in the U.S. Air Force when she met the couple around 2005 while stationed in Los Angeles. She was allegedly introduced to the pair in the VIP section of a club by a man named Caviar, with whom she'd attended a party at the home of late rapper Coolio the night before.
