AceShowbiz - Jenna Ortega is in negotiations to join Glen Powell in an upcoming movie at Warner Bros. J.J. Abrams, known for directing major franchises such as "Star Wars" and "Mission: Impossible III," wrote and will direct the untitled project.

Details about the film remain tightly under wraps, with the only known caveat being that it does not involve time travel, as previously speculated. Bad Robot, Abrams' production company, will produce the film.

Ortega, recently hailed as part of the "New A-List" by The Hollywood Reporter, will star alongside Powell, who has had a remarkable year with the success of "Twisters" (a Warner Bros. co-production), streaming hit "Anyone but You", and the acclaimed festival run of his passion project, "Hit Man."

Both Ortega and Powell are seen as box office draws, attracting younger audiences to theaters. Ortega's upcoming slate includes the highly anticipated Warner Bros. "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" sequel and the second season of Netflix's hit series "Wednesday," the most-watched English language television series of all time.

Abrams' last directorial feature was "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" in 2019. His last original feature was the Steven Spielberg-influenced "Super 8" in 2011.

While speculation may arise about the film being a direct sequel to Abrams' cult classic "Cloverfield," Deadline reports that no further information is available at this time.
