Instead of opting for a traditional celebration, Bush decided to undergo a full range of medical tests, including the innovative Galleri blood test which screens for multiple types of cancer.

"Instead of planning a trip or a special adventure out in the world, I decided to gift myself a journey inward," she shared in an Instagram post, highlighting her experience at Sollis Health, a members-only healthcare clinic.

Bush's decision was influenced by a viral illness she contracted last year that led to her hospitalization and early departure from the London West End production of "2:22 A Ghost Story."

Reflecting on that period, she stated, "People [were] trying to convince me that it was 'anxiety' or 'all in my head due to stress.' Women are ignored, demeaned, or straight up not treated because of medical bias that sees our pain not be taken seriously, and illnesses often left undiagnosed got [sic] longer, to our own detriment. And it's even worse for women of color!"

The actress revealed that witnessing friends' health crises further motivated her to take charge of her health. Her best friend's younger sister passed away from colon cancer at 37, and another friend underwent a double mastectomy at 42.

Driven by these experiences, Bush aimed to understand her own health better, undergoing extensive lab tests and the Galleri blood test. Despite her aversion to needles, Bush humorously noted, "I didn't pass out, please be proud." Notably, the Galleri test alone can cost up to $949.

Bush's candid post also addressed the sensitive issue of healthcare accessibility. Some commenters criticized her for appearing out-of-touch with many Americans' financial struggles.

She acknowledged these concerns, writing, "As we are all out here advocating for healthcare, and reminding you to vote like your lives depend on it (they do!) it's really meaningful to me to meet like-minded folks to learn with, and to be walked through their plans around how to bring the best medical treatments to the masses."

Emphasizing her journey, Bush expressed gratitude for the empowering experience, from obtaining necessary medical support for her asthma to managing the aftereffects of stunt injuries. This introspective and health-focused birthday not only underscores Bush's commitment to her well-being but also highlights the broader conversation about healthcare equity.
