AceShowbiz - Sir Ian McKellen, 85, was spotted running errands near his London home, maintaining a fashionable appearance with a blue scarf covering his neck brace. The actor was also seen wearing a dark blue shirt, light blue t-shirt, gray fedora hat, and light-gray slip-on shoes.
Despite his injuries, including a wrist and neck brace, Sir Ian has remained in good spirits and has been getting out and about for exercise and errands.
"The Lord of the Rings" star suffered the injuries during a fall from the stage at the Noel Coward Theatre in London's West End on June 17. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment, and the remainder of his performances in the play "Player Kings" were canceled.
Sir Ian has expressed his disappointment at missing the national tour of the show but has accepted medical advice to prioritize his recovery. The role of Sir John Falstaff in the tour will now be played by David Semark, Ian's understudy.
In a statement on Twitter, Sir Ian thanked the medical staff who have treated him and assured his fans that he is on the mend. He said that his doctors have promised a complete recovery, but only if he avoids work for the next few weeks.
The incident occurred during a battle scene in which Sir Ian's character, John Falstaff, was fighting the Prince of Wales and Henry Percy. He lost his footing on the stage and fell into the audience, narrowly missing the foot of a theater-goer.
Sir Ian's injury has highlighted the risks involved in stage performances, even for experienced actors. Despite the setback, the esteemed veteran of the stage and screen remains determined to get back to work soon.
