AceShowbiz - A planned series set within the confines of Arkham Asylum has been scrapped by Max, with different iterations facing setbacks over the years. Back in 2020, Terence Winter was tapped as showrunner for a "Gotham City P.D." series set in Reeves' "The Batman" universe, but he departed due to creative differences. Joe Barton took over but left when the focus shifted to Arkham Asylum.
In 2022, Antonio Campos was announced as showrunner and director of the Arkham Asylum series, which would have tied into the DCU established by James Gunn and Peter Safran. However, Campos is no longer involved, and his version of the series has been scrapped.
It remains possible that a different version of the Arkham Asylum series could still be developed in the future, potentially within Reeves' "The Batman" universe. Max has confirmed that three different writer/directors have been attached to the project since 2020.
Despite the Arkham Asylum series being shelved, Max will continue to expand "The Batman" universe with "The Penguin", starring Colin Farrell, set to debut in September. This series, however, will carry the HBO brand, unlike the greenlit Green Lantern series.
