In a report from ABC 7, Brumfield requested to stop representing Ye in his suit against an autograph dealer who accused the hitmaker of punching him. The attorney claimed in the docs, filed on Monday, July 1, that Ye terminated their working relationship on June 21.
"Defendant also will not speak to counsel and defendant refuses to pay counsel as well," the documents allege, per ABC 7. The hearing on Brumfield's motion is scheduled for July 29.
In a lawsuit filed on January 10, Justin Poplawski and his wife Tiffany Marshall accused the rapper of assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence regarding the alleged incident with Poplawski. Marshall further alleged that she suffered a loss of consortium.
According to Poplawski, he stopped the rapper when he was at the Soho Warehouse social club on South Santa Fe Avenue in downtown Los Angeles back in January 2022. However, Ye apparently wasn't in the mood as he allegedly struck Poplawski on the scene.
Poplawski demanded an apology, but the "Vultures" rapper refused. "Apology for what?" he asked, before proceeding to physically assault Poplawski several more times, which he claims resulted in injury. Poplawski claimed that Ye's aggressive action was because of his tumultuous divorce proceedings from Kim Kardashian.
That aside, Ye was sued in other lawsuits. Earlier this month, he was sued by a former staffer. The person claimed that the musician's wife Bianca Censori sent pornographic videos to minor staff as they worked on the fashion designer's latest endeavor, "Yeezy Porn".
Ye's former chief of staff Milo Yiannopoulos denied the accusations. "I've been authorized by Bianca to stress that any allegation that she showed or caused to be shown any pornographic material to minors is offensive, disgusting, abhorrent and categorically and wholly false," he said in part in a recent statement.
