AceShowbiz - Prime Video has canceled its sci-fi neo-Western drama "Outer Range" after two seasons, according to Entertainment Weekly. The show starred Josh Brolin as a Wyoming rancher who discovers a mysterious black void on his property.
"Outer Range" premiered in April 2022 to strong ratings, but its second season was met with mixed reviews. Brolin admitted that the show struggled to find its footing in the first season but was more confident about season 2.
"We were really finding our way in season 1," Brolin told EW back in May. "It was a great concept and we never really saw it through in a way that I felt totally comfortable with."
However, despite Brolin's star power and the show's genre-bending concept, "Outer Range" failed to achieve the level of success of other Prime Video series like "Fallout". The show's cancellation comes two months after the release of its second season.
In addition to Brolin, "Outer Range" starred Imogen Poots, Lili Taylor and Tom Pelphrey. The show also underwent a showrunner change between seasons, with Charles Murray taking over for Zev Borow.
Despite its cancellation, "Outer Range" left a unique mark on the streaming landscape, blending the elements of a traditional Western with science fiction.
