AceShowbiz - Lil Mama has had a few words to say about Nicki Minaj. The "Shawty Get Loose" raptress deemed the "Barbie World" spitter a "musical prostitute" following the latter's win at the 2024 BET Awards.
On Monday, July 1, the 34-year-old artist, whose real name is Niatia Jessica Kirkland, did not hesitate to share her opinions on Nicki. Making use of her Instagram page, she accused the fellow rapper of bringing bad influence to younger female hip-hop artists.
Lil Mama mentioned Nicki's name when she responded to a video documenting female rappers, including Sexyy Red, Latto (Mulatto), Ice Spice and Megan Thee Stallion, rocking revealing outfits during their performances at the annual award show. In the comments section, she wrote, "Then gave Nicki an award for leading this pack. Corporate 'BARS' be going over our head. They laughing at us for sure!"
In response, one Instagram user suggested that Lil' Kim "led first" while Nicki "came after." It prompted Lil Mama to reply, "Key word... THIS Pack. These young women are not influenced by Kim. Nicki is influenced by Kim. These women are 23."
Lil Mama went on to ask, "What major musical prostitutes do you remember from the last 15years. Who do you think they watched corporate give a platform and flowers for slitting out. Be forreal. Like I said they are laughing at us and the award was a 'thanks to you, now we have 7,8, 9 of em.' "
However, many other users appeared to disagree with the "Lip Gloss" rapper's claims and came to Nicki's defense. One in particular complained, "That's funny cause 'this pack' fails to acknowledge Nicki Minaj as their inspiration; the commenter was correct naming Kim. The new girls are naming her as their inspiration, place your blame there Lil Mama."
Another stated, "One Minute Nicki didnt open doors for these women, the next minute she's responsible for the sexually explicit content? EAT A FRANK voice of the young struggle face." A third suggested, "Lil Mama had a problem with Nicki since when she got popping. Girl hang it up!"
Lil Mama went public with her accusation against Nicki after the latter's BET Award win. On Sunday, June 30, she was honored with the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist award at the star-studded event. She earned the similar award for 7 years straight from 2010 to 2016.
