Rumors of a film or television adaptation of the popular fantasy action RPG video game have surfaced, with George R.R. Martin, who did the worldbuilding, hinting at its possibility.

AceShowbiz - The fantasy action RPG video game "Elden Ring" may soon be making its way to the big or small screen, according to author George R.R. Martin. In a recent blog post, Martin, who collaborated on the game's worldbuilding, acknowledged the rumors and wrote, "Not a word, nope, not a thing, I know nothing, you never heard a peep from me."

While Martin did not explicitly confirm the adaptation, his coy response has sparked speculation. The game's developer FromSoftware is known for its notoriously difficult titles, including the "Dark Souls" series. A film or TV adaptation would mark a first for the company.

Martin also shared his experience at the Nebula Awards in 2023, where "Elden Ring" won for game writing. "We were both honored with trophies," he said, referring to Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team. "However, I was not present at the event, and only one trophy was on hand, which went home to Japan, where it truly belongs." Martin received his trophy separately on June 22, 2023.

With the recent release of the expansion "Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree", gamers have flocked back to the video game. The expansion has been highly praised, with Games Radar calling it "the best Elden Ring content out there."

"Elden Ring", released in February 2022, has sold millions of copies worldwide. The game is set in the Lands Between and requires players to repair the Elden Ring and become the new Elden Lord. Players wield magic and weapons as they navigate the challenging world.
