The 'Dopamine' artist has announced she will not be performing at the BET Awards on Sunday, June 30, due to a 'really bad' injury sustained during rehearsals.

AceShowbiz - On Sunday, June 30, Normani Kordei took to Instagram Stories to share the news of her cancellation. In a lengthy statement, she expressed her disappointment and frustration, saying, "I am more frustrated and disappointed than anyone believe me... I had a really bad accident and injured myself."

Normani, a former member of Fifth Harmony, explained that she is normally able to "power through" under any circumstance, but due to doctor's orders, she is unable to perform. She went on to say, "I desperately wanted to give you my best on that stage but performing would delay my healing."

The singer also posted a photo of her injuries, which showed her on crutches with a bandage wrapped around her knee and a boot on her right foot.

Normani's performance at the BET Awards would have marked the live debut of her long-awaited debut album, "Dopamine", which was released on June 14. She was slated to share the stage with other performers such as Megan Thee Stallion, Mulatto, GloRilla, Sexyy Red and Will Smith.

Despite her disappointment, Normani thanked fans and BET for their understanding. She added, "Sending my love to BET for giving me and all of the other beautiful Black women this opportunity. This is definitely NOT how I envisioned this weekend but best believe I will be championing everyone from home tonight."

Normani's injury is a setback for the singer, who has been working tirelessly on her debut album. However, she remains determined to get back on stage and perform for her fans.
