Veteran actor Sir Ian McKellen, known for his iconic roles as Gandalf and Magneto, was hospitalized after falling off stage during a performance of 'Player Kings' in London.

AceShowbiz - Acclaimed actor Ian McKellen was rushed to the hospital on June 17 after an unfortunate accident during a live performance in London. The 85-year-old actor, famed for his roles as Gandalf in the blockbuster "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and Magneto in the "X-Men" films, was in the middle of a fight scene when he lost his footing and tumbled off the front of the stage at the Noël Coward Theatre.

The incident occurred during a performance of "Player Kings," a stage adaptation of "Henry IV," where McKellen plays the character John Falstaff.

The audience was quickly evacuated following the mishap, and it was reported that McKellen cried out in pain as crew members rushed to assist him. According to audience member Sandro Trapani, "I really hope that he is going to be all right." Trapani further noted that McKellen was conscious and asking for assistance.

"Player Kings," directed and adapted by Robert Icke, started its run in April and is set to move to the Bristol Hippodrome in July, followed by performances in Birmingham, Norwich, and Newcastle. Sir Ian has been a significant figure in the theater world for over six decades, with roles in Shakespearean productions and numerous accolades including several Olivier Awards.

Earlier this month, in an interview with The Times of London, McKellen expressed his willingness to reprise his role as Gandalf, stating, "If I'm alive," but added, "But there is no script, there is no offer, there is no plan."

McKellen's fall occurred during a scene involving the Prince of Wales and Henry Percy, as reported by a BBC journalist who witnessed the event. As of the latest updates, McKellen's representatives and the ambulance service have been approached for further comments on his condition.
