AceShowbiz - Metro Boomin, born Leland Wayne, unveiled his latest project, a comic book series titled "The Metroverse". This announcement follows nearly two years after his Billboard 200 No. 1 album "Heroes & Villains" and his work on the highly successful "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" soundtrack. His new comic series aims to visually immortalize his musical journey in an immersive universe.
"It's a dream come true to have my own comic book 'The Metroverse' on shelves," Metro Boomin articulated in a press release. "Josh and Patrick helped bring my superhero vision to life on these pages with the talented Vasilis Lolos making it pop with incredible visuals. I can't wait to share what we've created with my fans."
The first installment, entitled "The Rise", introduces Metro Boomin as a superhuman musician armed with remarkable powers, including bulletproof skin and enhanced strength and speed that amplify with his good deeds. The villain of this issue is 'The Suit,' a media mogul wielding dark powers and attempting to control the city through fear and deception. Metro battles this menace with his magic amulet and the power of his beats.
To commemorate the release, Metro and Zero Zero, in partnership with Complex, are hosting an immersive pop-up event at Complex LA. This event, scheduled for June 13, will allow fans to delve into the Metroverse world and purchase limited-edition merchandise and copies of the first issue. Although the first issue officially drops on June 14, limited editions, including 4,000 standard and 300 signed copies, will be available at the event.
"The Metroverse" is co-written by Ryan Cady, who has contributed to both DC and Marvel, and illustrated by Vasilis Lolos, known for his work with My Chemical Romance. The series integrates Metro's superhero themes from his previous works, including "Not All Heroes Wear Capes" and the Grammy-nominated "Heroes & Villains" album. Reflecting on Metro's love for comics and his profound influence in music, "The Metroverse" serves as a milestone in expanding his creative universe.
