The surprise appearance delighted both the studio audience and the show's hosts, including Whoopi Goldberg, who recognized just how unpredictable live TV can be. Goldberg mused, "Sometimes you look up, and you're like, 'Oh, this is really great.' And then you look over and you go, 'Oh snap, there’s Ryan Reynolds!' "
Reynolds, seated in the audience with his mother, responded to the spontaneous recognition. "This is way less stressful than up there," he joked, referring to the pressure of actually being on the stage. Elaborating on his presence, the actor explained, "My mom is here visiting her grandkids. And yesterday she said, 'It's my dream to go to 'The View'.' First off, I try to do what she says because you don't know what she's capable of. Unspeakable violence, my whole life." He continued humorously, "So, I made a call, told them I'm Blake's husband, and here we are."
Tammy Reynolds, a daily viewer of "The View", revealed she was even recording the episode back at her home in Vancouver.
