AceShowbiz - Jessica Alba and Cash Warren have always been open about their relationship's trials and triumphs. The actress and Honest Company founder recently shared on SiriusXM's "The Morning Mash Up" that the initial phase of love, usually the first two and a half years, isn't reflective of the real dynamics that follow.
"In love, you go through that [first] two and a half years, which is not real. And then after that, the reality of what your relationship is comes together," explained Alba, 43. For her, it boils down to making a conscious choice, "And you are either gonna choose to be family or not."
Celebrating 20 years together and 16 years of marriage, Alba and Warren share three children: daughters Honor, 16, and Haven, 12, plus son Hayes, 6. Reflecting on her journey, Alba shared, "The more you ebb and flow, the more you realize that the hard times aren't gonna be... it's not gonna be permanent. Like, you can find your way back to each other." She appreciates the shared history and the ability to help each other grow through different life stages.
Meanwhile, Warren has also been vocal about the importance of patience and understanding. On the Whine Down with Jana Kramer podcast, he recalled their early days filled with jealousy and a brief breakup four years into their relationship. During their time apart, Warren aimed to become Alba's "biggest cheerleader" rather than letting insecurities derail their relationship. His dedication paid off, marking a discernible shift in their dynamic, "Going through a few of those cycles, I no longer get as nervous and kind of start looking at the door. I no longer get as nervous when you're drifting apart, so to speak, or your energy is off," he explained. The couple now practices giving each other space and communicating openly.
