Following the success of 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire', the MonsterVerse sequel has found a new director and screenwriter, replacing Adam Wingard who has decided to step away from directing the next movie.

AceShowbiz - After helming "Godzilla vs. Kong" and "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire", Adam Wingard has decided to step away from directing the next MonsterVerse movie. However, Legendary Entertainment has announced that Grant Sputore will take the reins as director.

Sputore is known for his work on the sci-fi thriller "I Am Mother" and has extensive experience in directing commercials. Dave Callaham, who wrote "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" and "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse", will write the screenplay for the sequel.

Despite the departure of Wingard, Legendary has expressed interest in a future collaboration with the director. The sequel's production is being accelerated due to the financial success of "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire", which has grossed over $567 million worldwide.

Meanwhile, the MonsterVerse continues to expand beyond the silver screen. Apple TV+ has renewed "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" for a second season and is exploring the possibility of multiple spin-off series.

The synopsis for "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" reveals an all-new adventure where Godzilla and Kong face an undiscovered threat that challenges their existence. The film delves into the Titans' histories, origins and the mythic battle that forged them.

"Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" is currently available digitally and will be released on physical media on June 11. The release date for the sequel has not yet been announced.
