Amid the legal battle between her mother and estranged father, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt has decided to hire her own lawyer and pay the attorney using her own money to legally ditch her father's surname.

AceShowbiz - Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the 18-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has filed a legal request to change her name to "Shiloh Jolie." According to a source close to the matter, Shiloh hired her own lawyer and paid for the filing herself, indicating that Angelina has no knowledge or involvement in the process.

Despite previously rumored to move in with her father Brad Pitt, Shiloh made the bold move that follows similar actions by Shiloh's siblings, Zahara and Vivienne, who have also dropped "Pitt" from their surnames. Zahara introduced herself as "Zahara Marley Jolie" during an event at Spelman College, while Vivienne was credited as "Vivienne Jolie" in a Broadway production co-produced by Angelina.

Notably, Angelina Jolie herself initially bore the surname Voight, following her father Jon Voight. However, after a long estrangement, she petitioned the court to legally remove Voight from her name in 2002.

Separately, Angelina Jolie has filed a new legal document alleging that Brad Pitt's physical abuse began before the infamous 2016 plane incident, which led to an FBI investigation. According to the filing, the alleged abuse extended to their children during the flight, prompting Angelina to leave Pitt immediately.

Brad and Angelina began dating in 2005 and married in 2014. However, their relationship ended in 2016 when Angelina filed for divorce. They have since been involved in a lengthy legal battle over custody and other matters.

It is unclear how Brad Pitt will respond to Shiloh's name change request.
