AceShowbiz - Logan Paul seized the opportunity to throw his hat in the ring after Mike Tyson postponed his boxing match with Jake Paul. In the wake of the delay announcement, the 29-year-old YouTuber offered to "step in" and fight his brother.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the influencer shared a picture of him and his younger sibling facing off each other. "So Mike Tyson's out," he wrote alongside the snap. "I'll step in and we can settle this once and for all."
Many users have since reacted to Logan's post. "i mean it's literally what everyone (except pam and greg) wants," one user wrote, while another exclaimed, "the only fight that makes sense !!"
Mike and Jake's eagerly awaited fight was originally scheduled for July 20. However, Netflix, which will livestream the event, announced that it had to be pushed back following Mike's recent ulcer flare-up. The new date for the match is expected to be revealed by June 7.
According to Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), co-producing the event with Netflix, the fight will still be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, at a later date in 2024. The company's statement emphasized that Tyson's health and the athletes' ability to train equally are top priorities.
"During a follow-up consultation on Thursday with medical professionals on his recent ulcer flare-up, the recommendation is for Mike Tyson to do minimal to light training over the next few weeks and then return to full training with no limitations," MVP stated. Netflix also shared the news on their social media, quoting Mike's appreciation for his fans' understanding.
Iron Mike himself addressed the situation. "I want to thank my fans around the world for their support and understanding during this time. Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flare-up, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover," he said.
"My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s and I will be back to my full training schedule soon," the professional boxer continued. "Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good. I appreciate everyone's patience and can't wait to deliver an unforgettable performance later this year."
