AceShowbiz - G-Eazy has been a target of criticism from rap fans for declining sales after his commercial success in the 2010s. Despite being a multi-platinum artist with top 10 hits like "Me, Myself & I" and "No Limit," his 2021 album "These Things Happen Too" failed to reach the same heights.
In a recent interview on the "Steve-O's Wild Ride!" podcast, G-Eazy opened up about the factors contributing to his commercial decline. He attributed it to the death of his mother and the stress of his release cycle during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We had a great run, three albums in a row went platinum," G-Eazy said. "Then my mom died. And COVID, my mom passing, I just finally was like, 'I need to reset.' "
He also admitted to reading negative fan comments and being frustrated by suggestions that he had fallen off. "I should not have done this, don't ever Google yourself," he said. "One of the top suggested [questions] was 'Is G-Eazy still making music?' I was just like, 'F**k y'all! F**k y'all!' "
Despite the criticism, G-Eazy remains determined to continue making music. He announced that his next album will be titled "Freak Show" and will include tracks such as "Femme Fatale" with Coi Leray and Kaliii and "Lady Killers III."
