AceShowbiz - Fat Joe can now add another accomplishment in his resume. On Thursday, May 30, the "All the Way Up" hitmaker was awarded an honorary doctorate from Lehman College in his hometown of the Bronx.
The 53-year-old attended the school's 56th Annual Commencement Ceremony on Thursday as the guest speaker, receiving his honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree while there. During his speech, the emcee revealed he currently feels more successful than he has in his entire career.
Stressing that there's no age limit on achieving your dreams, Fat Joe said, "Some of you been around, but I'm telling you success never stops." The Terror Squad rapper further told the graduating class, "There is no age limit to being successful."
Documenting the special moment, Fat Joe unleashed a video from the even on Instagram where he got a little more personal in its caption. "God is the Greatest! i promised my moms a Diploma & who would have thought i would have a Doctorate. I'd like to thank Lehman College for this humbling experience @ruben_diaz_jr," he penned.
Fat Joe's post drew mixed reaction from Instagram users. Some congratulated him with one writing, "Great accomplishment! And for those who like to judge before educating themselves this Dr title and degree has no academic merit. It just acknowledges his contribution to society and/or the college and outstanding achievements."
Others, meanwhile, criticized the hip-hop artist. "Doctor? That means lots of hard work in college studying and all….or did just been handed one because of his notoriety," one person argued, while the other commented, "It's an honorary degree. You did not earn it. So stop telling people to call you a doctor."
