Pataky, a renowned actress in her own right, debuts as Vuvalini General, a valiant figure who aids in retrieving the kidnapped Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy). However, her second appearance as Mr. Norton, a ruthless cohort of Dementus's (played by Hemsworth) biker gang, is a stark departure.
With severe facial scars, yellowed teeth and a weather-beaten countenance, Pataky in the role of Mr. Norton is virtually unrecognizable. In a gruesome scene, she participates in the torture of a man, forcing Furiosa to witness the sinister act.
Hemsworth and Pataky, married since 2010, share three children and have enjoyed a close relationship. Pataky's role in "Furiosa" allowed them to spend quality time together away from familial responsibilities.
Pataky is not the only actor to assume multiple roles in the film. Lachy Hulme also portrays Rizzdale Pell, a member of Dementus's gang, and later transforms into the iconic Immortan Joe, the character originated by Hugh Keays-Byrne in "Mad Max: Fury Road".
Keays-Byrne himself previously played double duty in the "Mad Max" franchise, appearing as Toecutter in the original 1979 film and as Immortan Joe in "Fury Road".
The future of this beloved Australian franchise remains uncertain, but Pataky's ability to play diverse characters highlights the versatility that defines the "Mad Max" universe.
