AceShowbiz - Lionel Richie has opened up about the emotional rollercoaster his daughter Sofia Richie and her husband Elliot Grainge are experiencing as they prepare for the birth of their first child.
The 74-year-old singer recently revealed that Sofia, who is nine months pregnant, has become increasingly anxious about becoming a mother. Richie expressed his concern, stating that Sofia "is about to have a nervous breakdown," and advised her to "calm down" and enjoy the remaining weeks of her pregnancy.
Despite his daughter's anxiety, Richie is also excited about becoming a grandfather again. He has two grandchildren, Harlow and Sparrow, from his adoptive daughter Nicole Richie. "We're all loving it. I'm over the moon and trying to stay calm. I'm just so excited. For them, I know this is going to be the adventure of a lifetime!" he said.
Richie also joked that his granddaughter will be a "diva," noting that she takes after her mother. "You can't come from Sofia and not have some form of defiance," he quipped.
The "American Idol" judge warned Sofia that her life will change drastically once the baby arrives. "She is going to be in shock because it comes out this small, but it changes your life completely," he said. "And I can't wait to sit there and laugh at her when she can't hand the baby back."
Despite the challenges, Richie expressed his confidence in Sofia and Elliot's ability to be wonderful parents. "This little baby is gonna be souped up like you've never seen before. It's amazing," he said.
Sofia and Elliot have been together for several years and tied the knot in a lavish wedding ceremony in France last year. They announced their pregnancy in January.
